(WIP This site will display media art projects by Halifax artist Liz MacDougall.)

Background:

Liz MacDougall began hew work with audio and video in the early 80’s making making video and audio art pieces as well as animated films at NSCAD and UCSD. Her art practice evolved concurrent with holding organizational and tech support positions at several Canadian artist-run production facilities including The Centre for Art Tapes in Halifax and Cineworks Film Coop in Vancouver.

In the 90’s Liz worked as a freelance Designer, Television Producer, Video Directo, Post-Production Producer and Video Editor (video art, industrials, documentary) along working in a variety of positions in the film industry in Nova Scotia and in Vancouver.

Eventually teaching video production and interactive media design at the Centre for Art Tapes and later at NSCAD, Liz also performed in a variety of technical positions in the media arts community contributing to numerous productions by artists and independent filmmakers while also creating her own media art. As an artist, technician and designer she also created collaborative multi-artist interactive projects using video, film, and sound.

By the late 90’s Liz was working primarily in Interactive Digital Media. At this time she also held senior positions in post production as a documentary editor and Post Production Supervisor at the NFB, the CBC and in the Independent Video community. Using skills gained from working in Post Production at the NFB, CBC, PBS and various Independent Production Companies, Liz interfaced between Independents and the CBC directing the final cut of Independent creations at the CBC’s most sophisticated suites.

In the early 2000’s Liz created, coordinated and produced several group exhibitions and week-long performance art events featuring artists working with new technologies and installation art experienced at conferences of the Canadian Independent Media Art Alliance (IMAA).

Also since 2000 Liz worked as a freelance website designer and project manager in Montreal and later, in Halifax working with internationally situated web developers.

This site displays a selection of Liz’s art projects as well as her web design and technical project development with artists, non-profits, small business owners and community groups.
